Getting Clean, Staying Fresh, Smelling Delectable

By THÉRÈSE MARGOLIS

Beauty is all about health, and the best way to protect your natural beauty is to defend your complexion against external and internal elements that can erode the integrity of your skin’s cells.

Of course, that means slathering on plenty of sunscreen year-round, with reapplications every few hours, but there are also other way to protect your skin from premature aging.

Maintaining a healthy diet, drinking lots of fresh water, getting plenty of exercise, limiting alcohol consumption and avoiding any tobacco use (cigarettes not only give you cancer; they age you) are all important.

There are other simple steps that you can take to protect your skin — the largest and most openly vulnerable organ in your body — and to keep your complexion radient and fresh.

Here are some great new products that can help you accomplish just that.

Skin Defense

If you want beautiful skin, start with a deep-cleansing routine that does not entail the use of soap (which can irritate and cause inflammation).

Micellar waters have tiny molecules that gently latch onto dirt, make-up and other impurities, removing them in an effective and nonirritating matter.

They work much like a toner, but clean skin better while also leaving it feeling soft and hydrated.

Now, the Spanish pharmacosmetic company Genové Dermatologics has introduced a Detox Agua Micelar Antipolución micellar water that not only cleans away dirt and impurities, but also creates a protective barrier on your skin to fight against free radicals that can cause premature aging.

Infused with a unique urban cleaner complex (that provides a second-skin shield against pollutants, heavy metals and other contaminants), as well as green tea and lime extracts (to detoxify and stimulate the production of antioxidants), Detox Agua Micellar starts by stripping away grime and makeup from below the skin’s surface.

Detox is also enriched with phragmite perennial grass extract and poria cocos mushrooms to soothe and calm skin, thus reducing sensitivity and inflammation.

Best of all, Genové Detox Agua Micelar Antipolución is gentle enough to use on the sensitive contours around the eyes and on hypoallergenic skin.

Genové also has a super-nourishing hand cream Genocure that has glycerin and salycilic acid to protect and hydrate your hands all day long.

Genocure Hand Cream comes in a handy little plastic tube that fits easily into your purse so you can reapply throughout the day.

The cream has a light, airy fragrance that exudes freshness and cleanliness.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

Now that you have you face squeaky clean and protected from the elements, it is time to moisturize and nourish it with hydrating botanicals that will keep it dewy, comfortable and beautiful all day long.

Come October, the high-end French cosmetic and skincare line Sisley will be introducing in Mexico its exclusive Soin Velours Velvet Nourishing Cream.

Developed especially for dry skin, this two-in-one treatment revitalizes dehydrated and sensitive complexions both day and night.

The Velvet Nourishing Cream with saffron flowers combines sensory indulgence and rich efficiency for more comfortable skin without compromise through timed targeted action.

Sisley Soin Velours harnesses the power of buckwheat seed extract to protect  and shea butter to help repair damaged skin cells, making skin more resistant to premature aging factors.

In addition, saffron flower extract — a new Sisley key ingredient — helps to soothe dry skin with a velvety texture that envelops as it nourishes.

A trio of oils rich in omega 6, 7 and 9 (cottonseed, macadamia and sunflower) revives the skin’s suppleness and comfort, while Japanese lilyturf extract fortifies and quenches the skin.

Sisley Soin Velours has an ultra-sensory, velvety texture with a non-shiny finish which allows makeup to be applied immediately, and the product’s sweet scent of natural honey and orange blossom provides a sensation of wellbeing.

Also coming out in October will be Sisley’s new Le Phyto Rouge lip color collection in 20 radiant shades, from the most natural nudes to the most vibrant reds.

This high-pigmented lipstick has comforting skincare properties and an ultra-silky texture that leaves lips with a smoothing and hydrated feel.

And a special hydro-booster complex composed of microspheres of hyaluronic acid and konjac glucomannans supports a plumping, smoothing and more voluminous effect.

Over time and repeated use, Le Phyto Rouge preserves the look of youthfulness in the lips through a cocktail of enhancing oils that offer nutrition and suppleness.

The lipstick’s new gel texture blends into the lips fluidly on contact to provide a sensation of lasting comfort and an ultra-luminous finish.

Le Phyto Rouge comes in a signature Sisley zebra-striped magnetic case that is both elegant and modern and contains a faceted lipstick bullet for a precise application.

Once Upon a Time Is Now

And once you have pampered your skin clean and nurtured it with the richness of saffron flowers until it is silky soft, it is time to indulge your other senses, starting with a new fragrance that will turn you into a modern-day princess (move over Meghan Markle).

Fortunately for all us wannabe Snow Whites, Nina Ricci has just added a new fragrance to its Les Belles de Nina millennial collection, a saga of modern princesses.

Bella, which joins Nina Ricci’s previous eau de toilettes Nina and Luna, is a vibrantly acidic floral-fruity bouquet which opens with tantalizing notes of rhubarb and green mandarin, followed by a seductive heart of rose jelly, roses and freesia, sealed in a cloak of white musk and vanilla.

The new fragrance’s flask keeps the collection’s signature apple shape, but this time it is decorated in pop green with golden leaves and a ladybug, reflecting Bella’s daring and magnetic personality.
