A quickly intensifying Hurricane Willa has reached a dangerous nearly Category 5 level off Mexico’s eastern Pacific coastline.

If Willa continues on the same path, she could reach landfall along a stretch of coast between Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta later this week.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center has warned that Willa could “produce life-threatening storm surge, wind and rainfall over portions of southwestern and west-central Mexico starting on Tuesday, Oct. 23.”
