Mexico’s Centro Libanés and the Gallery are currently hosting an exhibit of contemporary Mexican paintings called “Una Mirada al Arte: De lo Figurativo a lo Abstracto” (“A Look at Art: From the Figurative to the Abstract”).

The exhibit, which opened to the public on Nov. 29, is intended to show how Mexican art styles transformed in the early 20th century as a result of photography and modern urban living.

These two approaches to painting later merged to create a hybrid style that adopted elements of both figurative and abstract expression, which is still dominant today.

The exhibit, which includes about 40 works by a range of artists, is open to the public and will remain on display through the third week of December.

The Centro Libanés is located at Hermes 67 in Colonia Crédito Constructor.
