More than 70,000 residents of Mexico City rang in the start of 2019 with a live concert and virtual fireworks show at the Palma roundabout on Avenida de la Reforma on the night of Monday, Dec. 31.

Headlining the eight-hour, family-oriented extravaganza, which was sponsored by the Mexico City government and open to all, was Colombian singer Margarita la Diosa de la Cumbia, with Mexican comedian Jorge “Coque” Muñiz serving as master of ceremonies.

The Gran Festejo de Fin de Año en Tu Ciudad (Grand End-of-Year Party in Your City) also included performances by the Mexican cumbia band Los Plebeyos, Mexican crooner Federico Caballero Chávez, the progressive Mexican rock group Meliora and Mexican pop singer DJ Andrea.
