120 Mexican Dancers Perform Virtual Ballet
By THE PULSE NEWS MEXICO STAFF
As part of the national safe-distancing celebration of Mexico’s 210th Independence Day holiday, the federal Secretariat of Culture and the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL) has produced a video of more than 120 dancers performing a gala virtual interpretation of the classic Mexican song “Son de la Negra.”
The performance has incorporated traditional Mexican folklore dancers from across the nation to produce a collage of expression of one of the country’s best-loved mariachi songs.
Each of the dancers was recorded from their individual homes in order to comply with safe-distancing practices during the covid-19 pandemic.
The video will be available for public internet viewing beginning Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 8 p.m. Mexico City time, on the Culture Secretariat’s Contigo en la Distancia portal and on various INBAL webpages.
