Let’s Get Physical
By THÉRÈSE MARGOLIS
It’s time to get physical.
After nearly a year of covid-19 lockdowns, endless binging on Netflix and let’s not even begin to talk about those extra calories from too much nonstop snacking, it is time to get physical and start doing some serious exercise.
After all, the jacarandas are in bloom, spring is in the air, and, yes, you have finally decided to upgrade your wardrobe from footed pajamas and six-year-old sweat pants.
Regardless of whether you decide to hit the gym (properly masked, of course), take a jog around the block, or just work out at home, the benefits of physical activity have been demonstrated to improve both physical and mental health.
So not only will a serious exercise route help you slim down those unwanted love handles and mega-thunder thighs that mysteriously attached themselves to your body over the last 11 months, but physical activity can be effective in treating depression and anxiety.
Medical research has shown that rigorous exercise program can have both short- and long-term benefits for mood, sleep and physical health.
So ditch the couch and surrender the TV controls to your not-so-pleasing plump sibling, and start moving now.
Start with Your Feet
A new pair of tennis shoes will get you up and running and also boost your mindset.
Reebok, the U.S.-based clothing and footwear subsidiary of German sporting goods giant Adidas, believes that having the right workout shoes can help you unlock your full potential.
So to help you get in the mood to lace up and get your workout on, the company has always included fun fitness fashion in its classic training, studio, running, weightlifting and other sports shoes, creating classic styles for comfort with an iconic, gotta-have streetwear vibe.
For spring 2021, Reebok has hooked up with DreamWorks to launch and Universal Brand Development to launch an adorable Reebok x Kung Fu Panda collection celebrating the animated franchise.
Each of the new collection’s key footwear models embodies Kung Fu Panda themes, including the loveable hero Po.
There is also an Instapump Fury Dragon Warrior to help you get your martial arts Zen on (with a Versa Pump version for kids) and a Club C Master Your Style wardrobe collection inspired by the film’s six Kung Fu masters for an action-packed graphic mashup .
So, as the chubby little Po would say, “Take destiny by the horns and have fun” wearing sportswear designed to give you support and keep you smiling.
All the exercise is bound to make you break a sweat.
But that doesn’t mean you have to drench your new workout clothes in sweat.
Green Doctor, the Mexican personal hygiene company that made a name for itself by creating all-natural organic toothpastes, has now developed an all-natural Bergamot & Coconut Oil Deodorant.
(The company also has an all-natural Rosemary, Lavender & Coconut deodorant and an all-natural Orange Flower & Coconut deodorant).
In addition to coconut oil, all three deodorants have bicarbonate of soda, beeswax, corn starch, rosemary extract and essential oils, which help to hydrate skin while acting as antiseptics and ongoing aromatherapy.
Green Doctor deodorants are designed to last longer than conventional deodorants and will not irritate sensitive skin.
And all Green Doctor products are paraben-, aluminum- and cruelty-free.
Don’t Forget the Sunscreen
Did you know that even if you are indoors, you should wear sunscreen every day?
The sun’s dangerous rays can penetrate windows and you can also get radiation exposure — known as blue light rays — from your computer and other electronics, so regardless of where you are planning to be during the day, you should practice a daily regimen of sun protection.
But according to the Mexican Dermatological Association, only 10 percent of Mexicans use sunscreen on a daily basis.
And because Mexico is in a very high UV radiation geographic zone, it is unsafe to be in the sun here unprotected for more than eight to 10 minutes a day, even if it is just on your balcony or sitting by an unshaded window
