Mexican Olympic silver- and bronze-medal diver Paola Espinosa has accused National Sports Commission (Conade) head Ana Guevara of intentionally blackballing her from participating in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Espinosa led the Mexican delegation at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, where she won the bronze medal in the synchronized 10-meter platform.

At the 2012 London Olympic, she won the silver medal in the synchronized 10-meter platform.

Guevara, herself a track and field Olympians who was declared the seventh-fastest female in 2003 and who was appointed to the post of Conade director by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) two and a half years ago, has had her fair share of controversies since taking office.

In June 2020, attempted homicide charges were filed against her following an argument with a Conade supply over a food contract.

The charges were later dropped.
