Despite the creation of a government-run natural gas company last month to curb the surging price of LP gas, nationwide the price of this crucial fuel continues to rise.

Nationally, the average cost of LP gas as of Friday, Oct. 1, was 25.65 pesos per kilogram, the highest level since federal price controls were implemented.

In fact, the maximum prices for LP gas established weekly by the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) have lost their reductionist effect for the fourth consecutive week, given that in 19 entities of the country the price is already more expensive than when the controls began.

Chiapas has the most expensive gas, at 22.93 pesos per kilo, and this week the price will rise to 25.28 pesos, which means a increase of 10.3 percent, the biggest hike in the country.

Other are also suffering from surging gas prices.

Tamaulipas has in the last two months witnessed an increase of 8.4 percent in the price, and Chihuahua has registered a 7 percent rise.
