19 Dead, Dozens Injured in Central Mexico Bus Crash

At least 19 people were killed and more than two dozen others injured on Friday, Nov. 26, after their bus crashed into a house in the town of Joquicingo in central Mexico due to a brake malfunction, a local officials said.

The brakes on the bus, which was heading to a religious shrine in the State of Mexico (EdoMéx) from the neighboring state of Michoacán, failed suddenly, causing the bus to lose control, officials said.

All of the injured people were transferred to hospitals and a state investigation is underway.

The Red Cross reportedly dispatched 10 ambulances to the site, and the search and rescue group Grupo Relampagos sent two helicopters to airlift the injured.
