Imagine a museum dedicated to the most important person in your life, YOU!

Yes, it is time to get ready for your own personal photo op, set in a winter wonder-landscape with peppermint candy canes, sugarplum fairies, magical elves and even a giant Christmas unicorn.

Mexico City’s very first pop-up Selfie Museum is set to open on Wednesday, Dec. 1, inside the Encuentro Fortuna Shopping Mall in Colonia Magdalena de las Salinas.

This unique, family-oriented, holiday-focused, viral-worthy immersive experience features a collection of more than 40 interactive art installations and vignette scenes, with whimsical carousel ostriches and giant, glittery Christmas stockings to infinity gingerbread man mirrors (with you at the center) and sparkling heliotrope spruce trees.

There are also photo stations with icicled pine forests, red and white candy spirals and a life-size, reach-out-and-hug-you robot.

The extraordinary “Magical Stories” exhibit, which will be open daily through Jan. 9, is the creative opus of Mexican visual artists Lacho Villanueva, Karina Romero and Ariel Rodríguez, who collectively have more than 20 years of interactive enchantment-creating experience.

In addition to the colorful selfie sets, there are also a giant, cushiony trampoline drenched in extraterrestrial stellar lights for bouncing, an oversized slide that you can slither down bathed in bright, twirling video projections, and a huge wooden bin where you can submerge yourself in a mountain of soft, lime green balls, all while posing for that perfect Instagram or TikTok shot. To help get you into the spirit of all this holiday fun, there is a face-painting station where a team of talented elves will transform you into a frosty enchanted princess or a mischievous forest imp.

And if you simply cannot imagine all this fun and adventure without the company of Fido, on Mondays — and only on Mondays — the Selfie Museum will even allow you to bring your pets along to get into the act.

And should you get hungry from all the magical adventuring, the Self Museum has a wonderous cafeteria, with cute little snowman ice cream cones, bubble-encased fruit juices and simmering, marshmallow-topped hot chocolates. At each of the photo stations, there will be a real-life (well, maybe, pretend-real-life) fairytale character dressed in chimerical garb to help set the scene and, if requested, step in to add an additional dimension of magic to your selfies.

And in true Christmas spirit, the Selfie Museum will donate a percentage of all proceeds to help brighten the season for Mexico’s underprivileged children with a little spark of holiday cheer and magic.

The Christmas pop-up Selfie Museum is located inside the Encuentro Fortuna Shopping Mall at Avenida Fortuna 334 in Colonia Magdalena de las Salinas, just 20 minutes from Polanco.

It will be open daily Monday through Sunday from noon to 10 p.m., from Wednesday, Dec. 1, through Sunday, Jan. 9.

Tickets are 320 pesos per person, or 350 pesos if accompanied by a pet. Children under the age of three years old do not pay admission.
