Alleged Colombian drug lord Eduard Fernando Giraldo was arrested last week in a sting operation in Mexico City, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) confirmed Thursday, April 21.

“Giraldo was detained by the Navy Secretariat and deported back to Colombia on Wednesday, April 20,” López Obrador said during his regular daily press conference.

The capture of the alleged criminal, alias “Boliqueso,” was the result of a Mexican collaboration with authorities from Colombia and other international agencies, AMLO said.

Giraldo is believed to have been a member of the Cali Cartel and Norte del Valle Cartel, organizations that were once the main drug suppliers to Mexican cartels, according to local media.
