There will be a citywide earthquake alarm system drill on Monday, Sept. 19, at 12:19 p.m.

The drill is held each year in remembrance of the capital’s worst two earthquakes in recent history, both of which hit on the same calendar day, one on Sept. 11, 1985, and one on Sept. 11, 2017.

Everyone is expected to participate in the drill, evacuating their homes and offices as soon as the seismic alarm goes off.

Situated on three large tectonic plates, Mexico is one of the most seismology active regions in the world.
