Mexico’s President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum is slated to receive her certification as Mexico’s president-elect from the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF) on Aug. 15, the former Mexico City government head announced in a video message on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

“On August 15, I will receive this certificate and, as always, my commitment to you, thanking you, I will not defraud, I will not lie, I will not steal and I will not betray the people of Mexico,” said Sheinbaum.

The president-elect also confirmed that she would continue seeking constitutional reforms with the National Regeneration Movement’s congressional and senate majorities, seats that are likewise set to be confirmed by the TEPJF in the weeks to come.

“We must be clear, what (the constitutional reforms) represent is more justice, more freedoms, more democracy, more well-being for the people of Mexico,” continued Sheinbaum.

That same day, Russian News Agency TASS reported that Sheinbaum had invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend her inauguration on Oct. 1.

The Russian Embassy in Mexico later confirmed that Putin received“an invitation to the inauguration ceremony of the Mexican president.”

According to the Mexican Embassy in Moscow, the Russian president “will decide whether he will participate in the ceremony himself or appoint another high-ranking official to do so on his behalf.”
