Forget those New York-Washington red-eyes and those bi-coastal jaunts from Manhattan to Los Angeles.
According to a new study released earlier this week by Routes, the organizer of the world’s leading air service development events, the busiest air route in North America is that 45-minute flight from Mexico City to Cancun.
In fact, nearly 3.7 million passengers flew the 1,294-kilometer trek between Mexico City Juárez and Cancun during the 12-month period between November 2016 and November 2017.
Just for the record, Los Angeles International to New York’s JFK came in second, with 2.8 million passengers flying between the east and west coasts., and third place went to the route linking Mexico City with Monterrey, the third-largest city in Mexico.
