Philippine Envoy Leaves Mexico

After just two years in Mexico, Philippine Ambassador Eduardo José Atienza de Vega will leave the country on Monday, April 23, to assume a new posting as his government’s head of mission in Belgium.

During a farewell reception at his Colonia Polanco residence on Friday, April 20, Atienza de Vega was presented a silver tray engraved with the signatures of all his colleagues by Algerian Ambassador to Mexico Rabah Hadid on behalf of the foreign diplomatic corps in Mexico as a token of his service here.

A career diplomat who served in Mexico as first secretary in the late 1990s, Atienza de Vega was also concurrent as the Philippines’ ambassador to Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Cuba.

Atienza de Vega’s replacement, Demetrio Remedios Tuason, is due to arrive in Mexico on May 2.
