The prestigious Québécoise contemporary dance troupe La Compagnie Marie Chouinard will return to Mexico this weekend for a two-night performance of “El Bosco: El Jardín de las Delicias” (“Bosch: The Garden of Delights”) at the Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris on Friday, May 11, at 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 12, at 7 p.m.
The choreographic three-act play was inspired by the 16th century Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch.
The dance spectacular is Chouinard’s tribute to Bosch to mark the 500th anniversary of the artist’s death.
The performance opens with the first act focusing on beauty and pleasure, while the second art revolves around the chaos of hell.
The third and final act represents the dance troupe’s interpretation of heaven.
The Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris is located at Donceles 36 in Mexico City’s Centro Histórico, next to the Metro Allende.
Tickets, which run between 300 and 950 pesos per person, depending on seating, can be purchased at the door on the night of the performances or ahead of time through Ticketmaster.
