An exhibit of more than 180 pieces from the Vatican Museum in Rome is now on display at Mexico City’s Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso Museum.
The exhibit, which opened Wednesday, June 20, is part of an ongoing celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations between Mexico and the Vatican.
It includes works by Italian renaissance masters such as Rafael and Titian, as well as pieces by lesser-known artists.
It also includes clothing and other items that have been used in Vatican sacraments.
Many of the pieces in the collection have never before been presented outside the Holy See.
The exhibit, titled “El Vaticano: De San Pedro a Francisco” (“The Vatican: From Saint Peter to Francisco”), will remain on display through Oct. 28.
