Frida, a rescue dog from Mexico’s Naval Secretariat’ canine unit that helped search for survivors in the rubble of collapsed buildings after last year’s devastating 7.1-magnitude earthquake on Sept.19, was recognized with the unveiling of her own statue in an ecological park in Puebla on Friday, July 20.

Accredited with having helped to save 56 people, the six-year-old golden retriever gained national celebrity during the quake’s aftermath and search-and-rescue effort.

Both Frida and her trainer, Israel Arauz, were in attendance for the statue’s unveiling.
