If you’re looking for something different to do this weekend, a trip to Xochimilco could prove to be an interesting adventure.

After all, it’s not every day you get to see a mariachi-led kimono fashion show from the seat of a trajinera.

Xochimatsuri is the result of collaboration between Mexico and Japan to improve bilateral cultural awareness and share unique traditions.

The culture festival will showcase traditional dances from both nations, origami displays, green tea ceremonies, culinary samples and conferences.

It will take place on Saturday, July 28, and Sunday, July 29, at Explanada Baja de la Delegación del Centro Histórico de Xochimilco at Guadalupe Ramírez 4, Xochimilco, Barrio El Rosario.

The festival is  open to the public free of charge.
