Vanessa Ponce De León, a stunning 26-year-old social worker from the state of Jalisco, walked away with the 2018 Miss World beauty title in the Chinese city of Sanya on Saturday, Dec. 8.

Ponce de León received her crown from the hands of last year’s winner, India’s Manushi Chhillar, based on the competition that considered physical beauty, intellect and social commitment.

The first Mexican ever to win the prize and the 68th in a line of beautiful winners from around the globe, Ponce de León works with migrants and rehabilitation projects for underprivileged young women.

The first runner-up title went to Thailand’s Nicolene Pichapa Limsnukan.
