The 10th Annual Feria International de las Culturas Amigas (International Culture Friendship Fair, or FICA) will be held in a new location, the corridor between the Casa de Cultura Quinta Colorada and the Complejo Cultural Los Pinos in Chapultepec Park, Mexico City Culture Secretary José Alfonso Suárez del Real y Aguilera announced on Tuesday, Jan. 22.

The fair will run from May 31 through June 16.

During the announcement of this year’s fair, Mexico City Mayor called on representatives form 70 embassies to participate in the event.

The first FICA was held along Avenida Reforma in 2010, with exhibits of music, dancing and handicrafts stretching over 500 meters of white tents from the main entrance of Chapultepec Park to the Glorieta de la Palma at Avenida Niza.

The fair quickly became one of the most visited annual events in Mexico City.

However, when the venue was changed several years ago to the Zócalo in the capital’s Centro Histórico, attendance dropped off due to transportation concerns and overcrowding.

During the announcement of this year’s fair, Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo asked representatives from 75 embassies to participate and to help make it “an example (of cultural friendship) for cities around the world.”
