After missing a 1 p.m. Interjet flight from Cordoba, Veracruz, to Mexico City on Sunday, Feb. 3, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) opted to return to the capital via land rather than wait for the next flight at 4 p.m., his spokesman Jesús Ramírez said.

The president was in Cordoba to present his new Sembrando Vida (Sowing Life) program to promote rural development.

AMLO, who took office on Dec. 1, has steadfastly insisted on using commercial airlines for all air travel rather than the former Estado Mayor presidential fleet of 80 government planes, which he has put up for sale to the general public, along with the former $218 million official presidential plane and 200 armored motor vehicles.
