Friday, Nov. 29, is the first-ever International Jaguar Day, created by the United Nations and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to raise awareness about the increasing threats for the jaguar and its tenuous survival from Mexico to Argentina.

The jaguar, is the largest wild cat in the Americas, and is currently being threatened by habitat depletion due to the conversion of forest for development and agriculture, and conflict with humans over the loss of livestock.

There is also concern that a formal national and international trade may be emerging in jaguar parts.
