Chinese Community Donates Surgical Masks to Mexican Government

The Chinese community in Mexico has donated a total of 15,000 surgical masks to the Mexican government to help in the fight against the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The donation of the three-ply masks, which was presented on behalf of the local Chinese community by the Zhonghua Business Association president Jin Jiachi, was received on Tuesday, April 21, by Mexico’s Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs Martha Delgado and Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) Foundation Director General Ana Lía García.

The Chinese community in Mexico consists of about 10,000 people, most of whom are descendants of immigrants who came over during China’s great famine at the end of the 19th century.
