While the covid-19 lockdown may be stopping you from taking your mom out this year for a special treat on Mother’s Day, you can still celebrate her day with an outing to the circus, albeit virtually.

Although the coronavirus pandemic closed down three-ring tents across the country as of late March, the members of the National Union of Circus Businesses and Artists (UNEAC) have decided to offer a once-in-a-lifetime online Circotón spectacular free-of-charge in honor of Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 10, starting at 4 p.m. local time.

The Circotón presentation, which will also be available for viewing in Colombia, Venezuela, Chile and Argentina via UNEAC accounts in each of those countries, will include the participation of the Atayde Circus, the Hermanos Fuentes Gasca Spectaculars, the Habana Circus, the Golden Bross Circus, the García Hermanos Circus, the London Circus and the Medina Circus.

During the broadcast, tickets to various Mexican circuses valid for one year, as well as one-year passes to all UNEAC circuses, will be offered for live shows presented after the covid-19 quarantine.

All money raised will go to help out-of-work UNEAC circus performers.
