Intensified Day-without-a-Car Restrictions Apply Thursday

Due to extremely high pollution rates in the city — a considerable stretch during the supposed covid-19 lockdown — Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum announced late Wednesday, Nov. 11, that the capital’s Day-without-a-Car (hoy no circula) program will apply “doubly” on Thursday, Nov. 12, with additional restrictions to help improve air quality.
Under these emergency conditions, all cars with holograms (calcomanías) 2 will be forbidden to circulate in Mexico City and the extended metropolitan area between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Thursday, as will will those with holograms 1, 2 oreven-numbered plates.
Any vehicles with out-of-state or foreign plates, as well as those without verification holograms, will also be forbidden to circulate during those hours.
All vehicles with 0 or 00 will be allowed to circulate normally throughout the day.
