Mexico’s annual International Theater Festival (FIT) will open at the Capilla Gótica of the Centro Cultural Helénico with an all-female interpretation of Oscar Wilde’s fast-paced “Lady Windermere’s Fan” (titled simply “El Abanico,” or “The Fan.” in Spanish), on Saturday, Nov. 21.

The four-act comedy is being directed by Mexican thespian Michell Amaro, who studied acting at the University of London and who is the founder of Mexico’s Compañía Abanico.

The Compañía Abanico previously presented the play — its first work as a troupe — in 2019 at the University Theater Festival of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where it received the prize of “Best Cast” and “Best Use of Space.”

“Lady Windermere’s Fan” will be preformed in Spanish at the Centro Cultural Helénico, located at Avenida Revolución 1500 in Mexico City’s Colonia Guadalupe Inn, on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m.

The cost per ticket is 300 pesos, and tickets can be purchased either through Boletópolis or at the door.
