Mexico’s Central Bank, Banxico, released a new 1,000-peso bill on Thursday, Nov. 19.
The new cotton paper bill pays homage to the 1910 Mexican Revolution, with images of revolutionary heroes Carmen Serdán, Hermila Galindo and Francisco I. Madero on its front.
The back side of the new 1,000-peso bill shows a rainforest jungle and a picture of the ancient Maya city of Calakmul.
The bill in the fourth member of the G family of paper money produced during the administration of Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO).
The G family also includes 500-peso, 200-peso and 100-peso bills.
