Mexico’s Superior Electoral Tribunal (TEPJF) on Wednesday, April 21, decided to give the ruling National Regeneration Movement (Morena) precandidate for the governorship of Michoacán Raúl Morón one more chance at a shot for his candidacy, a privilege it did not extend to his Guerrero counterpart, Félix Salgado Macedonio.
TEPJF Magistrate Mónica Aralí Soto Fregoso proposed once again returning the candidacy for governor of Michoacán to Morón, which the National Electoral Institute (INE) had previously removed, due to Morón not fully declaring his funding sources.
Salgado Macedonio was refused his candidacy by the INE on the same grounds, but is also alleged to have committed multiple rapes and have embezzled money and taken bribes from drug lords.
A decision on the issue is expected on Thursday, April 23.
