Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum announced late Tuesday, May 18, that the Tláhuac to Atlalilco section of the capital’s Metro subway Line 12 is slated to reopen for public transportation starting new week, and the Atlalilco to Mixcoac segment could reopen in the near future.

In a social media post, Sheinbaum said that transport on the line would be free-of-charge, and that 60 metro cars would be operating over a 15-kilometer stretch of the line.

On May 3, an above-ground segment of Line 12 collapsed, killing at least 25 people and leading to a national inquiry as to the cause of the crash.
