Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on Thursday, Oct. 7, said if his brother Pío López Obrador is responsible for what he is accused of, he should be punished.
On Wednesday, Oct. 6, Mexico’s Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judicial Power (TEPJF) gave the green light to the National Electoral Institute (INE) to proceed with its investigation against Pío López for alleged electoral crimes.
“I won’t protect anyone,” AMLO said.
“If my brother is responsible, let him be punished.”
In August of last year, two videos were released that were recorded in June 2015 in which Pío López Obrador is seen receiving large sums of cash from David León Méndez, a former civil protection chief who was later named by AMLO to run a state entity to distribute medical supplies.
