Bulgarian customs officers at Sofia Airport ¿seized 450 liters of liquid methamphetamine entering form Mexico, that National Customs Agency (NCA) said in a statement on Wednesday, Nov. 3.

The illicit drugs were found in 450 bottles placed in 30 cardboard boxes that arrived in Bulgaria on Thursday, Oct. 28 as a cargo shipment from Mexico, the NCA said.

The recipient of the consignment was subsequently identified and arrested, and now faces up to 15 years in prison.

Searches were carried out and documents, mobile phones and other evidence were seized, the NCA said.

Bulgarian authorities estimated that the value of the methamphetamine on the black market would exceed $6.5 million.
