According to a recent report from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency obtained by the Washington Post, Mexican smugglers sawed through new segments of the border wall build by former U.S. President Donald Trump 3,272 times over the past three years.
The report pointed out that the U.S. government spent $2.6 million to repair the breaches between fiscal year 2019 and fiscal year 2021.
The report also indicated that the damage produced by the smugglers was more widespread than previously known.
The CBP said that smuggling gangs typically cut through the barriers with inexpensive power tools widely available at retail hardware stores.
