Oksana Dramaretska, Ukraine’s ambassador to Mexico, on Friday, March 25, criticized the Mexico-Russia Friendship Group formed by the Mexican Chamber of Deputies two days earlier.

In a interview with Radio Formula, Dramaretska said that the legislators who endorsed the group — mostly from President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s (AMLO) leftist National Regeneration Movement (Morena) party and its ally, the pro-communist Labor Party (PT) —  constitutes a show of support for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“It is shameful (for Mexico) to support these murderers,” she said.

“By so doing, it is supporting their crimes (against the people of Ukraine).”

Dramaretska went on to say that by showing its support of Putin, Mexico’s lower parliamentary house had in essence endorsed “a criminal regime.”

She also said that by endorsing the murderers, the deputies were indirectly participating in their crimes, thus becoming an accomplice to his assaults on innocence Ukrainian civilians.

“(Putin) is a criminal,” she said.

“The war (against Ukraine) is brutal and unjustified. He is killing people, destroying our cities.”

There was no immediate response from the deputies to Dramaretska’s allegations.

The administration of López Obrador has refused to participate in sanctions against Russia.
