In keeping with the spirit of international (or is that, intergalactic) Star Wars Day, National Regeneration Movement (Morena) gubernatorial candidate for the Mexican state of Hidalgo Julio Menchaca switched out his leftist hat on Wednesday, May 4, for a full-on Obi Wan Kenobi outfit.

Menchaca shared pictures of himself in his elaborate Star Wars garb on Twitter, along with a tag saying, “In Hidalgo, we are ready to block the way to the dark side.”

And in true George Lucas tribute, he added, “May the fourth be with you.”

Menchaca is running against a Va por México coalition candidate, Carolina Viggiano Austria, who, if she winson June 5, would become the first female governor of Hidalgo.

As Leia Organa would say, “Somebody has to save our skins.”
