Former Ukranian Ambassador to Mexico (from January 2012 to October 2020) Ruslán M. Spírin, who currently works for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the government of President Volodymyr Zelensky, asked Pulse News Mexico on Thursday, Feb. 5, to help diffuse a message from Zelensky asking for support.

The message, in which Zelensky appeals directly for global assistance to support his nation’s efforts to defend itself from Russian aggression, was released Thursday by the Ukrainian government and presents an online platform called United24, through which anyone in the world can donate money in a single click to help Ukrainian war efforts and to help rebuild the war-torn country.

“We are launching United24 global initiative. Its first component is an online platform to raise funds in support of Ukraine. Other projects and programs will be added soon,” reads the message posted on the official Telegram channel of President Zelensky.

Zelensky’s video address, which is in English, speaks about the initiative, which establishes a central fundraising platform for donations, thus avoiding possible scams or intermediaries.

“Today, the whole free world has got united around Ukraine. Countries, companies, international organizations and most importantly – people. Now you are among them too. Thank you. Only together, we have the potential to stop the war that Russia has started and to rebuild what Russia has destroyed. Together we can help freedom defeat tyranny,” Zelensky said.

He added that “this fundraising platform is a part of global United24 initiative that has been launched to support Ukraine.”

“Here, in one click, you can donate funds to protect our defenders, to save our civilians and to rebuild Ukraine. All funds will be transferred to the National Bank of Ukraine and allocated to the relevant ministries. Reports will be updated every 24 hours. Every donation matters for victory. Donate to protect, donate to save, donate to rebuild,” Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian president went on to say that “today Ukraine is fighting not only for its own freedom, but for the freedom of the whole democratic world.”

“We will always remember your contribution to the victory of Ukraine, to the victory of freedom,”he said.

In March, Ukraine’s National Bank opened a special account to raise funds for the army.
