10 Gunmen Killed, 7 Wounded in Shootout with Mexican Police

At least 10 “heavily” armed gunmen were shot dead and seven other people were wounded on Tuesday, June 14, in a shootout with Mexican police in the Texcaltitlán municipality, in the central State of Mexico (Edoméx), officials said.

The gunfight began when agents from the local prosecutor’s office attempted to carry out an arrest warrant and were met with gunfire, according to authorities.

After the shootout, seven other gunmen, four of them injured, were detained, said the EdoMéx Attorney General’s Office.

The other three wounded were state police officers.

Security forces seized 20 long rifles, handguns, cartridges, vehicles, military uniforms and radio communication equipment, the police said.
