The body of Sonora website reporter Juan Arjón López was discovered on Tuesday, Aug. 16, making him the 14th Mexican journalist to be killed so far this year.
After seven days missing, Arjón López’s remains were found in the municipality of San Luis Río Colorado, in the northern region of Sonora, authorities said.
The Sonora Attorney General’s Office said that the victim’s tattoos served to help identify Arjón López, who officials had been searching for after his disappearance on Tuesday, Aug. 9, in an area bordering Mexico with the United States.
According to forensic reports, Arjón López was killed by multiple blows to his head.
