Mexico City Governor Claudia Sheinbaum made two announcements regarding her future on Wednesday, Nov. 23.

In the morning, she confirmed her engagement to National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) physics scientist Jesús María Tarriba Unger.

Sheinbaum did not provide a date for the nuptials, but did provide some insight into how her relationship with Tarriba Ungar had evolved, and how they met as physics students when they were both studying at the UNAM.

And on Wednesday afternoon, Sheinbaum officially announced that she was throwing her hat in the ring to be the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) candidate for the presidential run in 2024.
