Residents of Mexico City were jolted from their beds on the morning of Sunday, Dec. 11, by seismic alarms followed by a 6-magnitude quake, according to the National Seismological Service (SSN).

The quake, which hit at 8:31 a.m. Mexico City time, had its epicenter in Tecpan, in the southern state of Guerrero, the SSN reported.

Many people fled their homes and congregated in the streets, visually shaken, but no damages were reported in either Guerrero or Mexico City.
