Unfailing Reception

Praying out in nature
Perched along a country road
I was stopped by a kindly gentleman
“You must have better reception here”

I was told

I explained I was praying, not using my phone
Connecting with G-d at this quiet time alone
He then wished me well and ambled on his way
As I pondered his words and continued to pray:
“You must have better reception here.”

Originally from New York City but currently living in Toronto, Canada, CHANA PERMAN is a Jewish poet, mother and learning strategies instructor.
