The Mexican government’s CompraNet web page — which is supposed to disclose all government spending and which was inaccessible for more than two weeks in July of last year — suffered technical failures throughout most of Friday, Jan. 13, through Sunday, Jan. 15.
According to the Mexican Treasury Secretariat (SHCP), the website was temporary closed “for maintenance” in order to “provide stable, robust and secure services.”
Despite a major investment by the Treasury in August to “repair access issues,” the platform has delivered only partial service over the last six months, with extensive downtime.
CompraNet was set up by the current administration in order to ensure transparency in government spending.
