Mexico’s leading bread manufacturer, Grupo Bimbo, announced on Friday, Jan. 27, that it will invest $50 million to expand and modernize its bakery located in Azcapotzalco, just north of Mexico City.
During an event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its bakery in Azcapotzalco, Miguel Espinoza Ramírez, general director of Bimbo México, said that the investment will be allocated to various projects and improvements, including the installation of a new line for the preparation of baked goods, which will employ 50 additional people once it is launched.
The Bimbo Azcapotzalco plant currently employs more than 950 Mexicans and provides baked goods to Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Michoacán, Morelos, Guerrero and Oaxaca.
The company is the largest supplier of bakery goods in Mexico and has expanded its market to more than 35 countries worldwide.
