An exhibition and auction of works by Mexican artist Cristina Rubalcava will be held at Mexico City’s Casa Lamm on Wednesday, March 15, to help raise money to support the nonprofit Niños en Alegría program for elementary school-age children in the coastal state of Guerrero.

The exhibit and auction are being sponsored by Grupo Hunan, Guston Lombardi Studio and Vetus, and will include a short musical concert and cocktail reception, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Casa Lamm is located at Alvaro Obregón 99 in Mexico City’s Colonia Roma.

A native of Mexico City who has lived in France for the last 50 years, Rubalcava has had more than 50 individual exhibitions in Europe, Asia, Latin America and the United States.

His pictorial work is present in the Museum of Modern Art and the Quai Branly Museum in Paris, the Miró Foundation, the Tamayo Museum in Mexico, the MARCO Museum in Monterrey and the Ralli Museum in Punta del Este.

His mural paintings can be seen in the Maison de l’Amérique Latine in Paris, in the Bosque de Chapultepec in Mexico City and in the Port of Veracruz in homage to the poet and composer Agustín Lara.

Founded in 2003, Niños en Alegría is the only civil association in the state of Guerrero dedicated to improving public educational conditions through quality infrastructure and the application of programs to strengthen teacher educational skills.

As of 2007, Niños en Alegría is an operating partner with UNICEF in a program to enroll all school-age girls and boys in Guerrero.
