US Ambassador Salazar Contracts Covid

PULSE NEWS MEXICO

Just two days after Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) announced over Twitter that he has contracted covid-19 for the third time, U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Ken Salazar reported late Tuesday, April 25, that he too was infected with the coronavirus.

In a Twitter announcement Tuesday afternoon, Salazar reported that he had tested positive for covid.

“We have to continue taking care of ourselves against covid because it is still latent,” Salazar said in the tweet.

“I want to inform you that I tested positive. I feel fine, but I will suspend my activities to follow the protocols established by the (U.S.) Centers for Disease Control (CDC).”

The ambassador met with López Obrador one week earlier, on Monday, April 17,  at the National Palace, where he may have been infected by the president.

Since his arrival in Mexico 19 months ago, Salazar has been one of envoys with the closest working relationship with AMLO, having met with him at the National Palace at least 49 times.
