Mexican race car driver Sergio “Checo” Pérez crashed his car during the Grand Prix (GP) qualifying on Saturday, May 27, and came in 16th place at the GP finalé in Monaco on Sunday, May 28.

After crashing out on Saturday, Pérez started the Sunday race in 20th place, finishing in 16th place after five pit stops along the way.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands’ Max Verstappen — who, like Pérez, represented Red Bull — dominated the Monaco Grand Prix from start to finish despite pouring rain.

Coming in second was Spain’s Fernando Alonso for Aston Martin, finishing the race in the same position where he started it, and France’s Esteban Ocon took third place for Alpine.

The Circuit de Monaco is considered one of the most iconic stops on the Formula-1 schedule, but also one of its most treacherous.
