Mexican leftist firebrand and erstwhile presidential candidate Porfirio Muñoz Ledo died in his home on Sunday, July 9, at the age of 89.
A frequent critic of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), who he constantly pummeled for his lack of democratic practices and violations of the Mexican Constitution, Muñoz Ledo was always linked in his public life to Mexico City, where he was born and joined the leftist parties.
He served as a senator, congressman and ambassador to the United Nations.
Last year, Muñoz Ledo launched his New Republic Foundation.
