At least 10 people died and 60 were seriously injured on Sunday, Oct. 1, when a church in Mexico’s northern state of Tamaulipas collapsed during religious services.
The roof of a church collapsed during mass, leaving at least 30 parishioners trapped in the rubble, officials said.
Tamaulipas state police said about 100 people were in the church at the time of the collapse.
The state security spokesperson’s office said early on Monday, Oct. 2, that 10 people had been confirmed dead from the collapse, which it described as likely being caused by “a structural failure.”
