Dear Questioning,

I can’t define faith because I’m not a dictionary. What I can do is give you an analogy to explain faith as I have come to understand it.

Think of the times you’ve walked into an unfamiliar building and stepped into the elevator alone. You pushed a button the doors closed, and you sensed you were moving, but all you could see were elevator doors. Nevertheless, it’s unlikely you were fixating on the floor you just left or worrying about what the floor you’d arrive on would look like, and you weren’t trying to steer the elevator. Something told you the doors would open, and you’d step out of where you were supposed to be.

That’s faith.
