Acapulco Death Toll Reaches 43, with 36 Missing

The death toll from Hurricane Otis has risen to 43 as of Sunday, Oct. 28, in the southern Mexican state of Guerrero, with 36 people reported missing, Guerrero Governor Evelyn Salgado, said Sunday.

Of the dead, 33 are men and 10 are women.

Otis struck Guerrero’s coast on Wednesday, Oct. 25, as a Category 5 storm on the Saffir-Simpson scale, leaving catastrophic damage in its wake mainly in the popular tourist resort of Acapulco.
